Artist Statement

Ambient Light Mode, the work presents an underground scene marked by graffiti — a runner caught mid-motion, moving quickly through the space. There’s an immediate sense of urgency, of tension, as if something is just out of frame.

Lightbox Illuminated Mode, a second image is revealed. Beneath the surface, a woman appears, trapped under glass, held down by the weight of a monstrous arm. The shift is abrupt and unsettling — what first reads as movement and escape becomes something far more constrained.

The contrast between the two layers creates a tension between freedom and control, visibility and concealment. The runner continues forward, while beneath, another reality is fixed in place.

As with all Colinci works, the piece evolves with light. What is initially seen is only partial; the full image emerges over time, inviting a more considered and uneasy reading.

Designed to hold attention within a space, the work balances immediacy with depth — a striking visual presence that reveals something darker beneath.
