Artist Statement
Don’t Forget reflects on the transient mechanisms of power and the enduring legacies of colonisation. This work examines how authority reshapes itself through time — one system fading as another emerges — while those most affected often remain invisible. The image of Gandhi evokes resistance and moral leadership, yet also reveals how ideals can be absorbed into the very hierarchies they sought to dismantle. The empty chair becomes a symbol of shifting control and the faceless forces that govern society, leaving ordinary people unseen within the structures that define their lives.
“Don’t forget” explores the transient nature of man’s journey through time. Through a dual presentation, the Ambient Light Mode shows Jaipur (India) in dry season, while the Lightbox Illuminated Mode exposes the workings of the psychcliyic nature of man and nature itself.
