Artist Statement
Influenced by proximity to Dalí’s home and legacy, this work reinterprets surrealist thought through a contemporary lens. It examines how ideas once rooted in imagination now evolve within technological frameworks. The presence of a drone introduces the theme of surveillance and control, while the empty chair reflects both human absence and authority — a reminder of how easily power can shift between the observer and the observed. How would Dali interpret t the world today?
“Planting the Seed” . Through a dual presentation, the Ambient Light Mode shows the symbolic egg on Dali’s house as we see it today, while the Lightbox Illuminated Mode exposes what lies beyond, shows the Dali ethos images with a contemporary twist with the drone fertilising the egg, and planting the seeds of change. The egg implies the illusion of time and our place in it.
